Southlands Community Looking Forward to Bike-In Festival on Sept. 4

Saturday, September 4 from 10am-2pm in the Southlands’ Market Square

After holding the first Southlands Bike-In back in 2013, Southlands is excited to be relaunching the event on Saturday, Sept. 4.

The Bike-Ins were initially held to invite the broader community into the area to get a sense of how the agri-hood would grow and take shape. The events eventually had to pause for a few years as servicing work and construction began on the Southlands site.

Saturday’s festival will celebrate the opening of Southlands Drive and its adjacent pathway that connects Upper Tsawwassen with Boundary Bay, Centennial Beach, and Southlands’ Market Square.

While the event on September 4th is being held to celebrate the opening of Southlands Drive, the Southlands team made the decision to close the road to vehicles during the festival and are reserving the new road for visitors on bikes and on foot during the event.

The event runs from 10am-2pm

Market Square at Southlands, the site of the event festival, will remain accessible to vehicles along the traditional route from Boundary Bay Road and there will be plenty of public parking for everyone.

There will be activities and food for everyone to enjoy. Food trucks, including Downlow Chicken Shack, will join the event, and a beer garden will be hosted by Four Winds. The family-friendly event will also include activities for the kids such as face painting, a rock climbing wall, stilt walkers, balloon art, lawn games, a bike decoration station and live music. Southland’s weekly Saturday Farmers’ Market will be running as normal, featuring produce from Southland’s farmers as well as local artisan goods.

Southlands’ recently completed Red Barn is also available for visitors to check out.
